International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit

Since 1919, the International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit has empowered immigrants, refugees, and U.S. born residents across the region through innovative programs that advance economic mobility. Since its founding, the Institute has served more than 2 million people representing 180 cultures and 200 languages, reflecting the richness of Detroit’s global community.

Through a comprehensive economic mobility framework, the International Institute offers programs in adult education, workforce development, career and financial coaching, legal immigration services, case management, entrepreneurship training, and community development. Its work supports individuals and families as they navigate new opportunities and contribute to the region’s economic and cultural vitality.
