Cultural Center Plan
Reshaping a resilient urban environment
The Detroit Cultural Center is a powerful driver in creating inclusive economic growth, educational opportunity, and cultural vitality for the city, region, and state. We are unlocking the district’s full potential, so that it can inspire and unlock yours.
Cultural Center Planning Initiative
The Cultural Center Planning Initiative (CCPI) provides a comprehensive roadmap for strengthening this anchor district through intentional investments in public spaces, shared infrastructure, and collaborative cultural programming. In short: we are transforming our cultural infrastructure.
CCPI is a collaborative, multi-year effort that produced a master plan and redevelopment framework for Detroit’s Cultural Center. It also launched ongoing initiatives—including public Wi-Fi, shared arts programming, and coordinated institutional strategies—to strengthen the district as a connected, innovative, and inclusive cultural destination.
This plan offers more than a vision—it’s a practical, shovel-ready strategy that supports statewide goals: revitalizing communities, attracting and retaining residents, and preparing future generations through access to world-class learning environments.
