For over 120 years, the College for Creative Studies has been at the forefront of art and design education. Located in the heart of Detroit’s artistic community, CCS is more than a college—it’s a cultural anchor. Visitors are welcome to explore its galleries and stroll through the renowned Josephine F. Ford Sculpture Garden. Each semester, the college hosts a free Speakers and Exhibitions Series featuring global artists and designers discussing relevant topics in the artistic community.
CCS is a key player in Detroit’s community, using art and design to contribute to the city’s culture and vibrancy. Through the Community Arts Partnerships, it helps provide art and design education to Detroit youth, as well as a wide range of degree and certification programs for the next generation of creative leaders.

Walter & Josephine Ford Campus

Located within the Cultural Center, the Ford Campus is the heart of CCS’s public-facing activity. The campus includes the iconic Yamasaki Building, Manoogian Visual Resource Building, Walter B. Ford II Building, Josephine F. Ford Sculpture Garden, and more. The Ford Campus is home to a range of undergraduate and graduate programs in fine arts, visual storytelling, craft and material studies, and art education. It also hosts many of the college’s exhibitions, events, and community programs, inviting the public to engage directly with student and faculty work.

Located just north of the Cultural Center in New Center, the Taubman Center serves as a hub for design education in Detroit. The building is home to a range of undergraduate and graduate programs in fields such as communication, fashion, interior and product design, transportation design, motion design, and user experience. In addition to academic studios and classrooms, the Taubman Center houses Design Core Detroit and Shinola, reinforcing its connection to Detroit’s thriving creative and design industries.
